Guidelines for Resumption of Baseball & Softball

To promote the health of our youth athletes, coaches and community members, CSBA is developing a set of guidelines for a safe return to sports following the coronavirus, SARS-CoV2 "COVID-19" pandemic.  Given the changing environment, these recommendations and guidelines may change at any time.  These guidelines are also not meant to replace those set forth by state and local officials.

Below are just some of the expectations and procedures being implemented:
  • No handshaking/celebrations:  Players and coaches should refrain from handshakes, high fives, fist/elbow bumps, group celebrations, etc.
  • Limited number of players allowed in the dugout at one time to maintain 6' social distancing guidelines.
  • No sharing of equipment (helmets, bats, masks, etc.) and baseballs/softballs will be cleaned periodically.
  • Umpires, players and coaches will wear a face covering.  As part of the uniform package, players will receive a sublimated buff face mask:
  • Targeted cleanup and sanitation of dugouts after practices and games.
  • Signage to encourage limited and socially distanced spectators.
  • No candy, chewing gum or sunflower seeds permitted by players, coaches or spectators.
  • Promotion of proper hygiene/hand-washing and self-accountability if sick/feverish.

The CSBA Board will continue to monitor National, State and Local guidelines and will adjust rules and procedures accordingly.  As we support the benefit of sports and social interaction, we also recognize there are ongoing infection risks and concerns regarding COVID-19.  The decision to participate/spectate are individual family choices and participation in CSBA's programs are fully dependent on athletes, coaches and families adhering to the league's rules and regulations and local, state and national guidelines.
